I'm on a boat!

Our trip to the San Juan Islands last weekend was superb. Bright blue skies on day one, enough wind to sail for about 20 minutes at a time, volcanic islands everywhere we turned, and a gorgeous hike on Sucia Island... Like camping, but very posh. Our skipper and safety navigator (O's coworker and his girlfriend) were equally exceptional.

All in all, a pretty great spring weekend! The beds are producing more lettuce than we can give away... breakfast with friends before we all joined up to make a bicycle gang and join half of Portland for the Sunday Parkways bike ride... then Karen & Gabe tied the knot! And we got to spend some much needed quality time with Skye, Carol, Emily and co.

Facial Hair Contest!

So Oren's work proposed a facial hair contest a few weeks ago - the rules and potential awards of which are completely nebulous. Coworkers have been working at growing wispy little goatees, scrubby mustaches...

Oren, recognizing he has a good 4-6 year lead on any of his colleagues, decided he needed to do something a little more... special.
